Jumping Sundays and the liberation of Albert Park, 1969

More schoolboy photography. In September 1969 anti-Vietnam War protest, free speech, hippies, music and dancing invaded Auckland's Albert Park in defiance of the Auckland City Council which banned political activities there, reserving it for picnics and brass band performances. Ironically, when in 2009 the fortieth anniversary of the 'liberation' was celebrated, the City Council supported the event as part of its Heritage Festival.
