Like the previous gallery image by Beere, the camera position for the modern scene can only approximate that of Beere's in 1864; this location on the old shoreline, below the headland of St Barnabas Point (before it was demolished and before the reclamation of Official and Mechanics Bays), seems to have been more or less in the vicinity of the modern Strand railway station platform seen here in the 2025 image. But it's difficult to know exactly where the old shoreline ran relative to the modern scene.
