A cartes-de-visite format photograph. Construction of the Palmerston Buildings, seen here at centre, was completed in 1884, and the firm of Lewis & Simpson, seen here at left, moved from this location to Fort Street in 1886*, so Willmott's image must presumably have been made between these dates.
