Dating Martin's image: The firm of Wingate, Burns & Co., whose premises can be seen in Customs Street East (second bulding from left), had been at this location since about 1883 (at least that's when advertisements in newspapers of the time first gave Customs Street as the company's address - it had previously been Fort Street). James Wingate left the firm at the end of 1890 (see newspaper extract below) and the company was renamed John Burns & Co.
