Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections give 1884 as the date for this image. The photographer exposed at least one other plate of this scene (below) but it seems to have survived only in the form of a copy of a print by James Richardson (which has also evidently been cropped). The camera position is unchanged, but the photographer has attracted a few more onlookers.
