The date for this photograph must presumably be 1889 or later as it was in that year that Ah Chee Dining Rooms (all meals sixpence) seen here next to the Union Bank, opened. Below, an advertisement from the Auckland Star, 24 May 1889.
If the image is from 1889 or later and if the image is by George Valentine it would be among the last that Valentine made; he died in 1890.
