With so little to go on it's difficult to be sure about exactly where Kinder's camera position was in relation to modern Beach Road. His camera was evidently elevated, perhaps on a structure somewhere in the vicinity of Dangar's flour mill. This Auckland Art Gallery print of Kinder's picture is small (61 x 102 mm) and battered and seems to be the only surviving copy of Kinder's original plate.
