This 1880s image is the earliest of a group of pictures (see below) made from the same vantage point over the years. This image must date from 1885 or later as the signage on the third building from right advertises the photographic business of John Robert Hanna, who moved here in that year.* (The buiding was formerly the premises of photographer John Nicol Crombie.)
